Searching for ways to find balance in our lives is a recurring theme in modern living. Did you know that Jewish wisdom, from classical teachings to modern texts offers invaluable insights and direction for so many of our contemporary challenges? This six week course explores Jewish attitudes toward the many competing foci in our lives and presents Jewish approaches to finding balance amid the intensity of day-to-day living. This class is taught by Rabbi Goldstein.

Intro to the Prayer Book

Have you ever found yourself lost in services on Shabbat morning? Would you like to know how to better read and follow prayers? Join Rabbi Silvana Bacman as we explore how to gain comfort with the siddur and the structure of Saturday services.

Hebrew 101: Adult B'nei Mitzvah

The first half of the year, this class will meet as a beginner Hebrew class for those who have never learned Hebrew or want a refresher. The second half will be an adult B’nei Mitzvah class focused on leading part of Shabbat services and reading Torah and Haftorah. This class is taught by Rabbi Silvana Bacman.

10/21, 10/28: A two part class with Rabbi Jan Katz on the book, “Restorative Justice – The Road to Teshuva: Case Studies and Insights from Tribal Law and Jewish Tradition”. Free to the public. Register here

11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16: A six part class with Dr. Michael Dobkowski on the book, “Jewish Responses to Catastrophe: Six hinges of Jewish history – From the destruction of the Second Temple to October 7th and resurgent antisemitism”. Cost: $180. Register here

1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27: A four part beit midrash style class with Rabbi Klein using Hadar’s Project Zug materieal, “To Share or Not to Share: The Torah of social Media”. In this class, we address the question, “What can Judaism teach us about communicating with each other online?” Cost: $120. Scholarships available. Register here

Talmud Class with Rabbi Klein

Starting on Thursday August 20th, come learn Talmud with Rabbi Klein on Thursday mornings after minyan at 8:30 a.m. No prior experience or Hebrew skills needed. We will start at the beginning with Tractate Brachot and work our way through using a side-by-side translation.

If you’ve ever thought about leading weekday or Shabbat services, join us on Tuesday night for one-on-one instruction on how to become a prayer leader. This class is taught by Rabbi Goldstein. 

Mussar: The Practice of Becoming

How do we become the people we most want to be? Each month, we will explore a different middah – a soul -trait such as humility, patience, gratitude, courage, or generosity – through Jewish wisdom, honest conversation, and contemplative practice. Come discover how the ancient path of Mussar can help us live with greater awareness, intention, and integrity.

No previous experience is necessary. Come every month or join us whenever you can.

Mining the Depths

For centuries, Jews have read the words of the Torah through the lens of the Rabbis who came before us. Join Rabbi Goldstein on Friday mornings for an in depth look at the Book of bereshit (Genesis) utilizing classic commentaries and thinkers. 

Curriculum: Rabbi Goldstein will be using The Commentator Bible: Genesis from The Jewish Publication Society. We highly recommend you purchase the book to participate.
